Black and White OOTD

Apr 18, 2018

It's been a while since I've done an OOTD! Between the spring weather (sorry for you still in the cold!) and upcoming summer vacations I've been shopping for clothes more than I have home decor. I bought these shorts about a month ago. Not only do they still have them, but they are under $27 on sale! The top is one of my favorites and a staple all year around since I like to wear it under jackets. I also own it in white. It's on sale too!

Because my legs are on the shorter side I prefer wedges without any straps around the ankle to lengthen the leg. They can be hard to find! These are older, but I found vey similar ones below.

My Favorite Spring Sandals

Mar 19, 2018

The one thing I really needed for this spring and summer is new sandals! I realized as soon as the weather turned warm this month that mine are so worn out, which isn't surprising since we wear them about eight months out of the year in Houston. I found so many great neutrals to pair with any outfit. Some of these are blogger favorites and sold out in most sizes, but I managed to find them in stock on other websites. There are also several deals!

The white Greek slides are definitely my favorite this season. I just received them a couple of weeks ago and I'm wearing them almost daily. If you have a wider foot like I do they really do make your foot appear slimmer. I can't remember the last time I wore a slide, but I'm a complete convert!

This Week's Fashion Round-Up

Feb 23, 2018

TGIF! We're chilling out at home tonight like we usually do on Friday nights. The boys get their Xbox remotes back after not having them all week long so there's no way they would leave the house to go anywhere. I don't mind because the weather was so nice this evening that I enjoyed a couple of hours on the back patio with a glass of wine.

This week was busy, but so fun. I had a couple of design jobs and we're in the middle of a big home project. It's fun because it isn't a DIY! I will be sharing the details soon. If you follow me on Instagram, check my stories out for a sneak peek. Today, I headed to the Decorative Center in Houston to look at a few wallpaper and fabric samples in person. I loved every single one! Once I get all of those decisions finalized I'll post them here. Here's a round-up of what I wore this week, not including gym clothes. Do you want to see workout outfits? I can definitely post them if so. Comment below!

Today's look at the design center. The jacket is from Cole Haan, but several years old.

Here are a couple of work looks. Both days I staged homes so flats were a must. This day it was cold and rainy. The day before (see the second pic below) was warm and humid, which is why there is such a seasonal difference. Texas weather in the spring is crazy!

Next week is also going to be busy with our home project wrapping up. It will be completed just in time for a party I'm hosting. I've been planning it for months, and I can't believe the day is almost here. I will be sharing all of the details of course!

OOTD: Black and Leopard

Feb 21, 2018

Yesterday was all about spring and today we're back to winter. The temperature dropped over 20 degrees this morning while I was having coffee on my back porch. I needed to get dressed for a design appointment anyway! I staged another home today so I wore flats again. I never know when I'm going to be moving furniture. Today, I ended up pushing two desks together to simulate a dining table. It worked! Sometimes you just have to improvise.

I have to talk about these jeans for a minute. They are skinny mid-rise ankle length jeans from Banana Republic. Even though they are skinny, they aren't so tight that there are creases all the way down the leg. I've been having an issue with designer jeans taking skinny a bit too far. The best part is they are on sale! I picked up a white pair yesterday. I think I've tried on just about every pair of white jeans the past month, and these are the only ones I found that aren't full of creases or semi-sheer.

The top and scarf are sold out, but I found similar ones below.

Cute Spring Outfit: J.Crew Factory

Feb 20, 2018

It already feels like spring in Houston! The high has been 80 the past week so I broke out my new spring outfit today on my way to a design appointment. The best part is this top and skirt are 50% off right now plus free shipping (use code evenbetter)!

I just love the scalloped detail on the edge of the skirt. I'm seeing it everywhere right now.

I styled it with pearl studs because I was feeling a bit preppy today.

Holiday Outfits: Casual or Cocktail?

Dec 3, 2017

Many holiday parties and events range in dress code from formal to casual. There are also those events where you're not sure if you're supposed to be in a cocktail dress or jeans. Unfortunately, I feel like it's always the latter. Here are a few options for those occasions.

The picture does not do this white and black sequin jacket justice! It is absolutely beautiful in person. Pair it with black jeans for a more casual look. I've had the black skinny jeans from Banana Republic for over a year, and they've become a wardrobe staple. I love the bow detail on this sweater dress. Pair it with leather leggings or over-the-knee boots if it's cold.

I never thought I'd buy a jumpsuit. They looked terrifyingly long for my 5'4 frame. I tried one on and was immediately a jumpsuit convert. I bought the black one from Nordstrom and had it hemmed for free by the alterations department. It's a free service for any full-priced item. I wore it to a company Christmas party at a restaurant and also to a theatre production. Half of the people were wearing causal pants/jeans and the other half were wearing cocktail dresses at both events. It was nice to fit in somewhere in the middle.

You can shop the items at the bottom of this post. I've also linked shoes and accessories, too. The over-the-knee boots are the most similar ones I've found to the pricier Stuart Weitzman boots. The black tassel earrings are the ones I'm wearing in this post. I've worn them at least twice a week since I've bought them.

Here is a closer view of the earrings from last week's Christmas Tour post.  I've linked the Target red top below, too. I like it because the bell sleeves aren't overwhelming for petite frames. I have it in black too since it's only $17.99. I've worn both so many times!

Have a great weekend!

Black Friday 2017: Fashion Finds for Her

Nov 23, 2017

There are so many sales going on right now. I wasn't expecting to be impressed, but here are a few things that caught my eye.

Nordstrom Sale

I have always loved the Stuart Weitzman Highland boot. This is by far the lowest price I've ever seen!

I have these boots and get asked about them every single time I wear them out. I bought them because the heel is low enough to wear every day. I bought them on sale, but there's even an extra 20% off the sale price right now.

Kendra Scott jewelry is on sale! This is such a great gift idea.

Express-Everything is 50% off!

I mentioned these socks in my IG stories recently. They are only $12.45 so pick up one for you, too!

I love Express sweaters. I hadn't shopped there in years until recently. I was so impressed with the quality and softness of their sweaters that I think I've bought a half dozen this fall. This one is only $34.95!

Other Deals!

Fall Fashion: Pretty in Pink

Sep 29, 2017

It's been so long since I've written a fashion post! We're not seeing fall weather quite yet, but I know we're going to have a mix of cool and warm days in the weeks to come. These light and neutral fall transition pieces will keep you warm in the morning, but fit in with the sunshine of the afternoons. I own several of these items, plan to buy others and can only dream about the Chloe boots!

1 I own this tee in white and love the flattering cut. It comes in petite sizes too! It's a blogger favorite and selling out fast.

2  I wear flats most of the time and the blush color is so pretty with white jeans. The suede makes it appropriate for fall.

3 This is the top I'm wearing in my profile pic. I love it so much that I went back and bought it in black. It's on sale too!

4 My leopard flats are completely worn out after wearing them so many times over the past several years. The modern cut on these make me them my favorite so far.

5 I am surprised at how much I have worn my gray jeans. They've truly become a staple. The toothpick fit from J.Crew has always been the best fitting skinny jeans for curvy figures since there's a little more room in the thighs. No creasing on the backs of the legs for me!

6 I wear this cardigan almost every morning. It's the softest and coziest sweater I own. I gave so many as gifts last Christmas because I felt like everyone just had to have one.

7 I am completely in love with this Chloe boot! Michael Kors makes a knock-off, but sadly only in black so far.

8 This scarf is a blend of cashmere and silk for under $100. It comes in so many colors too and would make a great Christmas gift. Yes, I said the "C" word. Sorry!

9 I love to wear white jeans all year around and they look great paired with darker tops in the fall. However, the gray is a good alternative if you aren't comfortable in white jeans.

I hope you enjoyed this fashion post as much as I did writing it!

Fall Fashion 2014

Oct 27, 2014

I have been in a fall clothes buying frenzy lately and I've found some great stuff I just have to share. I know my choice in fashion isn't why you visit me here so this will be a rare post. Don't worry, I have made a few changes on the home front to show you soon.

I know I'm not the only one gearing up for fall weather right now. Since Christmas is right around the corner I try to get my family outfitted for our cooler months by November. It's too stressful trying to buy everyone new clothes AND Christmas presents at the same time. Oh, don't forget about decorating for Christmas! Most of us don't have unlimited budgets and that kind of time on our hands so I'll take whatever help I can get. So, when I stumbled upon two amazing fashion blogs I took notice. I love finding new blogs to ooh and ahh over. They have always been interior design related until now. These bloggers do have a similar style to mine and I noticed I already own (or have wanted to own) some of the items they blog about. Even if you have a different style there are so many fashion bloggers out there to get inspiration, just like interior design.

The first one is The Northeast Girl. Here are a few of her looks.

Cute, right? I love the preppy, yet modern looks. I've noticed a New England preppy look is very similar to a Southern girl preppy look. I wonder who loves monograms more? She has a good mix of outfits that are casual for everyday and also for the workplace.

You also need to check out The Sweetest Thing Blog. Not only does this girl have amazing style, but her hair is straight out of a shampoo commercial.

Yes, this girl out-haired me. She does give out hair tips and even posts video tutorials.

Now, on to my good finds! I have so many new things I've bought that I made a new Pinterest board here so I don't inundate you with good stuff. If it's not on sale, check for a coupon because I almost never buy anything at full price.

The blouse comes in so many different colors and I'm starting to think that all of the fashion bloggers out there own one. These Mother jeans are amazing! I found them on sale at Anthropologie and got an extra 25% off this weekend. I'm on my third gold tassel necklace now since I have a habit of getting them hung on everything. This one was so cheap since it was from the Juniors dept. And, the black leggings with faux leather inserts were just too cute to pass up. All of these links are in my Pinterest board as well as many other recent finds.

Also, check out my fashion and beauty inspiration board here. You'll see things like this Clare V clutch that is hard to find since it's become so popular.

This is the only place I've seen it still for sale. Shhh...because I haven't bought one yet.
