It's monsooning down here in Texas today so all of the kids are a bit nervous, but the rain is supposed to be gone by 6pm. If the weatherman is wrong we'll be trick or treating with an umbrella. We didn't plan on having a party this year, but my kids broke me down and we invited a couple of kids over at the last minute. Thankfully, I'm off today since it's been slow at work so I can spend the day cleaning, menu planning, decorating, and finishing Mario's ewok costume. Yep, an ewok! Here's a picture I took a few days ago when I was trimming the fabric.
Hahaha! I don't sew and have no idea what I'm doing. I ended up putting this on him about ten times trying to figure out where to cut the fabric. He was so good for me and even started raising his paw the last few times to help me put it on him. Don't get me wrong though, he was not happy! He seemed resigned and maybe a bit depressed. Poor little ewok! Hopefully, he is just as good for me today when I finish it.
The boys are going to be a ninja (or inja as my five year old says), Ghost from Modern Warfare 2 (I have no idea either), and Jason from Halloween. The days of dressing my kids up how I want is over...really, really over. If I had a girl though I would bribe her to wear this.
Are you dying?!
Okay, back to the reason for this post! Here's a few last minute Halloween ideas for you.
Pumpkin Rice Crispy Treats
These are super easy. Just make rice crispy treats as your normally do and use a pumpkin cookie cutter to cut them out. Make sure to completely fill the cookie cutter with the rice crispies and press down firmly to get a good pumpkin shape. I used a special tip to make the leaf that I found at Michael's, but the white is regular grocery store icing.
These are just chocolate cupcakes with m&ms and oreos. Tip-Use two cookies for the eyes. There is no way to cut the white icing in half. Trust me because I tried!
These would be great for not just a party, but as gifts for your neighbors tonight. I know my kids don't need any more sugar than the candy they will get!
If you have kids coming over like I do, here's a cute no cost game.
My neighbor is bringing over Bloody Sangria tonight, but any Halloween colored drink (orange, black, purple, green) can look festive with black sugar around the rim of the glass.
I like these spider ice cubes, too.
I hope you have a safe and happy Halloween!
