Getting Halloween Ready

Oct 10, 2012

Look what's on sale!

I got the email from Michael's yesterday with a 50% off coupon for Martha Stewart Crafts Halloween, but when I got there it was on clearance or marked 50% off. No coupon needed. I was excited because I had planned on going up to Michael's today for these birds anyway. Don't you love when that happens?

I also picked up these cute jar labels. We're thinking about having a Halloween party for the kids so this would be perfect.

I couldn't wait to get the birds up before the kids got off the school bus yesterday because they have been asking to put the Halloween decorations out for at least a month. I decided to stick them to the upstairs windows so they could be seen from the street. They come with little stickies that are great if you are going to put them on a mirror or on a wall inside your house, but they could be seen from the street so I had to just use clear plastic tape. I got them done just in time, but my 10 year old didn't notice them. My 6 year old did, but he was too upset to care after running into a stop sign at the end of the street. I think he was more embarrassed than hurt. The poor guy got his mom's clumsy genes. After that drama and a cookie, they went outside again and loved them!

I'm thinking about getting a little spotlight to put in the windows so they can be seen at night. I think it's a great little Halloween touch that only cost $4.99. I can't wait to get started on my Halloween pinterest projects next!

I'm definitely going to put out some lights in the yard.

I love the purple and orange together.

If we still have tomato cages I will definitely try to make these ghosts.

I'm also going to be on the hunt for good Halloween party ideas. What did we do before Pinterest?

I'm definitely going to make the owl cupcakes I made last year.

These were a huge hit. If you've seen these on pinterest and have considered making them, use one oreo per eye. There is no way you can perfectly cut down the center of the white creme for two eyes. That would have saved me some time and a lot of oreos.

Now, I know why I'm never ready for Christmas. Halloween is exhausting!

  1. I love the way your windows came out - so cute! And I hope you make the ghosts - they're awesome!!

  2. Thanks, Stacy! I couldn't find any tomato cages in my garage today, but I'll find something to improvise with (or hit up Walmart).
