Neutral Fall Mantle

Sep 25, 2012

I love decorating for fall, but this year I decided to try something different. I've admired neutral mantles in the past, but never attempted one myself.  Now, that I've painted my living room such a cool and fresh color I decided a neutral fall palette would be perfect.

I added a new vase filler in creams and tans from Target to mix with my cinnamon scented pinecones and fall leaves. The pumpkin I bought a few years ago fits right in with this new fall color scheme. I didn't do much else except move the lantern over from the bookcase.  I just wanted a little nod to fall this year instead of a slap-you-in-the-face-with-my-fake-leaves look.

I love that this room still feels fresh and clean, but with a touch of cozy.

I can't resist showing you this little guy I bought for the end table.

Is he not the cutest?  For $4.99 at TJ Maxx he was going home with me.

As natural and relaxed as the family room is I couldn't help but want to jazz up my fall decorations in another room.  I guess I was a little owl crazy the other day at TJ Maxx, but I thought this orange mercury glass owl would dress up the entryway.

That's "S" the scarecrow next to him.  I thought my son was so smart at three years old naming him "S" for scarecrow when we bought him last year.  It turns out that was the only letter he knew.

Buddies!

  2. I'm hoping the owl makes it through the fall because my four year thinks he's a toy. Oh, that paint color! It was worth the 15 samples to find just the right one.
